RETURN TO A TASK - OPTIONAL PRACTICE CARD AND RECORD Original everyday exercise; not a diagnostic test or treatment protocol. 1. Notice: My attention is somewhere else. 2. Choose: Resume, respond to an interruption, pause, or get help? 3. Locate: Find the page, cursor or materials and the stopping point. 4. Act: Choose one clear operation that fits the current task. 5. Check: Continue if useful; adjust the setup, rest, or stop if not. ONE OPTIONAL RECORD - leave any line blank Task I chose now: Where I stopped: One visible or accessible cue: Next concrete operation: What actually happened: Next choice: continue / change setup / break / ask / stop Fictional example Task: Read the instructions for a form. Stopped: The paragraph explaining the required attachment. Cue: The heading directly above that paragraph. Next operation: Read that paragraph once and identify the attachment. Observed: I found the attachment name but do not have the file. Next choice: Locate the file before continuing the form. Use only the details needed to resume. Avoid names, account numbers or confidential content on a visible reminder. You do not have to keep a log. If practice increases distress or self-criticism, stop or change the approach. Persistent difficulties affecting ordinary responsibilities deserve appropriate support rather than more rounds of a private worksheet.
